Brief

We were first hired to redesign our clients bedroom with a ‘hotel lux’ feel, working with the current carpet and wardrobes. Once this was completed our client tasked us with giving two of their reception rooms a glow up as the house was a modern house but they wanted to give the rooms more character plus they needed an area to house their treadmill and spin bike.

Design

In the bedroom the lighting was very poor so we re-positioned the spotlights and added pendants on either side of this stunning oversized headboard. The client had a dressing table area already but it just wasn’t working to store all the products she had, so we simply cut through the side of the wardrobe to create a recessed shelving area for storage, so the dressing table could be kept tidy. The client had only just purchased a ‘pop up’ TV unit at the end of the bed, which had more of a traditional style, so we upcycled the unit simply by making it narrower and giving it sharper edges and with the addition of the gold detailing at the front it really did bring a bit of luxury to the room.

For the larger TV reception room we divided the space into two rooms by building a partition wall with statement double doors to create a gym for the client. We created a recess in the ceiling to allow for the curtains to sit in to give a waterfall effect to the fabric. We also built a fake chimney breast to house the electric feature fire and TV, which was surrounded by our bespoke storage unit encased in marble. To connect the two rooms and the small landing that divided them, we replaced the flooring throughout and changed the solid wood doors to these contemporary crittall glass doors. In the smaller reception room we simply redecorated and refurnished the space to give it a cohesive look with the curtains being the main star of the show.

This project was a first for us in that our client wanted to save money so he did the whole build himself! The job took a little longer than expected but the finished product was stunning as he really had the eye for the attention to detail.

Style

In the bedroom we designed a bespoke bed and wrapped it in a stunning Linwood fabric to make it the centrepiece of the room, which was framed by the warm glow from the Tala pendants and with the Jane Churchill fabric for the roman blinds and gold fixtures and fittings, you could really believe you were in a 5 star hotel.

In the TV room it was all about comfort for watching movies with the family so the oversized 4m sofa did the trick and with black and gold accents in the doors, radiators, console table & marble against Farrow & Ball’s Skimming Stone walls it really gave the room a cosy, luxury feel, which was finished off with floor to ceiling curtains made with a fabric from Black edition. In the smaller reception room we continued the same colourways to connect the two rooms however this room has more a mid century feel with the stunning artwork and ceiling pendant from Soho Home, which was all framed by luxurious floor to ceiling curtains made in a fabric from Casamance.
